Our commitment

Burlcore Foundation Limited is committed to protecting the children, families and vulnerable adults we work with in Busia and across Uganda. Everyone who represents the foundation, staff, volunteers and delivery partners, is expected to put people first, act with integrity and report any concern immediately.

Core principles

• Children and vulnerable adults have the right to be safe, respected and listened to.
• Everyone acting on behalf of the foundation shares responsibility for safeguarding.
• All concerns are taken seriously, recorded and acted on without delay.
• We respect confidentiality while meeting our legal duty to report abuse or harm.

Code of conduct

Staff and volunteers must never be alone with a child in a private setting, must obtain informed consent (from a parent or guardian where relevant) before taking or publishing any photograph, and must not share personal contact information with beneficiaries outside programme activities. Any form of physical, emotional or sexual abuse, exploitation, discrimination or bullying is strictly prohibited and will result in immediate removal and, where appropriate, referral to the authorities.

Reporting a concern

If you are worried about a child or vulnerable adult connected to our work, or about the behaviour of anyone acting on behalf of Burlcore Foundation, please contact us in confidence at info@burlcorefoundation.org. Your report will be handled promptly and sensitively by a designated member of the team.

If a child or adult is in immediate danger, please contact your local emergency services first.
