Burlcore Foundation delivers malaria protection to mothers and newborns at Busia Health Centre IV.
The Burlcore Foundation has delivered and installed 39 mosquito nets and 55 pairs of maternal bedsheets at Busia Health Centre IV, strengthening protection for new mothers and infants during one of the most vulnerable moments in a family's life.
Busia Health Centre IV serves a catchment area of more than 63,000 residents across the Busia district. The maternity ward supports the safe arrival of infants born in the region, many to first-time mothers who travel long distances to reach the facility. Malaria remains one of the most persistent threats to expectant mothers and newborns in eastern Uganda.
Working directly with the health centre's clinical team, the Foundation supplied and installed treated mosquito nets over every occupied bed in the maternity ward, and replenished the ward's stock of maternal bedsheets. All items were delivered on-site by Burlcore Foundation staff and installed in a single day.
The Foundation intends to continue supporting the health centre with routine replenishment cycles and further improvements to the ward environment as the programme develops.
